Description

What is Chaliponga?
Chaliponga (D. cabrerana) is a psychedelic plant which is a commonly used ingredient in ayahuasca. The plant occurs in the Amazon and is also called Banisteriopsis rusbyana. Chaliponga leaves contain DMT, 5-MeO-DMT and bufotenine.

Effects of Ayahuasca with Chaliponga
You need another ingredient for Chaliponga to work. The constituents of Chaliponga are not active because they are immediately broken down by our bodies. We are unable to advise you as to the correct proportions of the ingredients, but we can certainly tell you about the effects of ayahuasca.

An ayahuasca trip can last a long (4-12 hours) time. The duration is dependent on the quantity and potency of the brew which you drink. This kind of trip can expect to be accompanied by some discomfort. Nausea and vomiting is completely normal before the trip starts. It takes between 20-60 minutes before the first phenomena begin.

It starts during or shortly after vomiting with an intense feeling of happiness, euphoria, love and empathy followed by auditory hallucinations. Some say that ayahuasca literally announces itself audibly. Then forms and colours start to appear on the edge of your field of vision and these gradually start to demand more and more of your attention. Ego becomes irrelevant and you feel like you’re connected to the universe.

Although some trippers say they underwent a life-changing experience during an ayahuasca session, others say that the experience was pretty scary and shouldn’t be repeated. Don’t expect to keep it together with ayahuasca because you will lose all sense of control. You’ll have to submit yourself to the journey and the overwhelming feelings, emotions and hallucinations which accompany it.

DMT
As an active ingredient, this plant contains the substance DMT (N,N-dimethyltryptamine). DMT is a common, naturally occurring substance which can also be found in our own bodies. After taking orally, DMT is not active because it is immediately digested by enzymes in the liver. (Synthesized) pure DMT is also smoked to experience a short-lasting (20 minutes) but pretty heavy trip. In many countries, DMT is illegal. On the other hand, plants which contain relatively large amounts of DMT can be obtained legally. On their own these plants cannot trigger a trip – a so-called MAO inhibitor is needed for this. This is often another plant or plant extract which ensures that DMT is not immediately broken down and indeed produces its psychoactive effects.
